Pre-Law at Carthage

If you are considering law school, the best undergraduate curriculum you can pursue is one that provides you with a strong liberal arts education. Carthage, as a liberal arts college, will prepare you well for law school and a career in the legal profession. If your post-graduate career plans change, you will still have secured a broad-based, valuable and intellectual foundation from which to develop other professional possibilities.

Law school will prepare you for a wide range of career opportunities. A Doctor of Jurisprudence can lead to a traditional legal career as well as careers in law enforcement (including the FBI), government, business, economics, politics and teaching in addition to many others.

There is no specific major that you must choose and no specific set of courses that you must take in order to be well prepared for law school. Pre-law provides you with the freedom to choose from a wide array of undergraduate courses and majors. What is of paramount importance as an undergraduate student considering law school is your ability to develop strong analytical and oral & written communication skills. The ability to write cogently and coherently, to analyze carefully and accurately, to reason logically, and to speak effectively and articulately will give you the edge you need to successfully complete the rigors of law school.

Please check out our site for the latest information in current and future Pre-Law course offerings, including course syllabi and materials, faculty listings, how to prepare for law school, including the application and admission process, our chapter of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, and our links to Law Resources.
