Student WEA

What is Student WEA?

Student WEA (Wisconsin Education Association) is a branch of the National Education Association committed to the professional development of undergraduate Education Majors and Minors and anyone interested in working in public schools.

Our Mission

To support public education for all students and the continuation of a strong professional association, the mission of the Student WEA is to provide its members a voice in matters affecting their education and careers by offering opportunities for leadership, professional growth, and involvement at the local, state and national levels.

Why is Student WEA beneficial?

Student WEA members will gain a greater knowledge of the education profession, grow individually and professionally as well as be better prepared to actively participate within their careers. St WEA helps with professional development and teaches leadership skills and values. By becoming a member of Student WEA it will give you many great opportunities to build your resume, network with other professionals, meet new friends, and have fun volunteering your time and effort to the community.

Why should you be involved in Student WEA?

No matter what year you are in college, Student WEA can offer you a great deal. Student WEA is affiliated with Wisconsin's larger professional association, WEAC (Wisconsin Education Association Council) and the NEA (National Education Association). Membership entitles students to valuable benefits.

For freshmen and sophomores, there is a chance to network, develop leadership skills and gain priceless professional experience. Additionally, it is imperative for juniors and seniors, while student teaching or during practicum, to be insured with the same liability insurance that all teachers have.

All members receive subscriptions to yearly, monthly, and quarterly publications from all different levels of the organization. Everyone gains leadership abilities, a voice, and a sense of purpose in the education field. Together in our annual Outreach to Teach Project we help schools that are in desperate need due to revenue controls. Students also experience how being an active member really affects our ability to make a difference in the classroom.

Join Student WEA, become involved, learn a great deal, and advocate to become the best educator that you can, hand-in-hand with other Student WEA members.
