News & Events

The Carthage English Department hosts several events every year, including a visiting writer series, readings by poets and fiction writers, and an International Poetry Festival. In addition, every fall, English faculty and students travel to Ontario for the acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

September 22

Kate Greenstreet
7 p.m. Niemann Media Theater

Kate Greenstreet's second book, The Last 4 Things, will be available from Ahsahta Press in September. Her first, case sensitive, was published by Ahsahta in 2006. She is also the author of three chapbooks, most recently This is why I hurt you (Lame House Press, 2008). Her new work is in current or forthcoming issues of journals including jubilat, Fence, VOLT, Court Green, and the Denver Quarterly.

Joshua Marie Wilkinson
7 p.m. Niemann Media Theater

Joshua Marie Wilkinson was born and raised in Seattle. He is the author of four books, most recently The Book of Whispering in the Projection Booth (Tupelo 2009), and editor of Poets on Teaching, forthcoming in 2010 from University of Iowa Press. He is also editor (with Christina Mengert) of 12x12: Conversations in 21st Century Poetry & Poetics (Iowa, 2009). He lives in Andersonville, Chicago, and Athens, Georgia.

G.C. Waldrep
7 p.m. Niemann Media Theater

G.C. Waldrep is the author of three full-length collections of poetry: Goldbeater's Skin (winner of the 2003 Colorado Prize), Disclamor (BOA Editions, 2007), and Archicembalo (winner of the 2008 Dorset Prize; published by Tupelo Press in April 2009). His work has appeared or is forthcoming in many journals, including American Poetry Review, Paris Review, New England Review, The Nation, Denver Quarterly, Colorado Review, Tin House, and New American Writing. He has received awards or fellowships from the Poetry Society of America and the Academy of American Poets as well as a Pushcart Prize. In 2007 he held a literature fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He lives in Lewisburg, Pa., and teaches at Bucknell University.
