Executive Board Meeting April 17, 2004 Balboa's in Platteville, WI Present: Matchett, Snavely, Scott, Ganapathy, Muhs, Poss, Thomas, Trautwein Prelude: Mark noted that his one duty (so far) as past chair is to drum up nominations for the distinguished teaching award. Greisbach's group was superb! Apparently Carl Cowen was so impressed that he is going to try to hire them to perform at Mathfest. Andy said that preliminary attendance figures are in the 147 to 155 range. This is unusually high for a meeting in the less populous part of the state. Newsletter: booklet format is not needed now that the newsletter will be primarily online, with hard copies mailed only to those who request them. Honoraria go to Gehring, Rudin, and Greisbach is to receive $100 toward travel expenses of his troupe. Evaluation of meeting. It was a fun and wonderful meeting. We learned one thing though. When the microphone becomes non-functional, tell the audience to move to the front. Otherwise the meeting was essentially glich free. The representative for Mathfest (to receive support from the MAA) will be either Jayanthi Ganapathy or David Scott.
