Wisconsin Section Distinguished Teaching Award The Wisconsin Section Distinguished Teaching Award was established in 1991. Its purpose is to recognize excellence in teaching in the field of mathematics at the college and university levels. Each year one person may be selected to receive the award. Nominations are gathered at the end of the year for the following year's award. Thus in 1991 the first nominees were considered for the award that was bestowed in 1992. The award stands as a concrete statement that mathematicians at the colleges and universities in Wisconsin place high importance on teaching. The Wisconsin Section is proud of its growing list of award recipients. These men and women of mathematics who have been recognized for their excellent work as teachers represent the committment to teaching that exists among mathematicians throughout the state.
