The recipient of the award was UW-Oshkosh mathematics professor, Dr. Jennifer Earles Szydlik . Dr. Kenneth L. Price of the Mathematics Department at UW-Oshkosh wrote the following in nominating Professor Szydlik for this award:
"Dr. Jennifer Earles Szydlik is an outstanding teacher. Dr. Szydlik's achievements can be partly attributed to her conviction that mathematics is a purely human endeavor that everyone can enjoy and appreciate. Her lessons are designed for students to take ownership of mathematical ideas, methods, skills, and content."
