The Love Prophet: A Mathematical Model for Romance Abstract: In this paper we develop a mathematical model to simulate the feelings experienced by a man and a woman in a romantic relationship.
Hunted: A Mathematical Model of Abstract: A complex predator-prey model for the application to an actual environmental setting was generated using the standard predator/prey model. Further, the newly-created, altered model was analyzed using numerical methods, specifically the Runga-Kutta method, to determine the accuracy and validity of the model, as well as to analyze the relationship between a predator and prey species in an environmental setting.
Deal or No Deal Abstract: Using the twenty-six dollar amounts and the banker’s offer, one can calculate the expected value for a player and notice that the banker does not follow a linear formula.
Trip to the Big Wheel Abstract: Using probability and expected value, we calculate the average value of the ‘Big Wheel’ on the game show Price is Right. These calculations allow us to mathematically determine when a player should spin again or stop based on the opponents’ spin value and the order the player is spinning. The Mathematics of Sudoku Abstract: We find the least possible number of squares that can be removed from a completed Sudoku puzzle to yield more than one possible solution.
