Carthage presents the annual Christmas Festival Dec. 2-4, 2011.
A Carthage Christmas: Sing, Ye Heavens, Tell the Story is a festival of readings and carols featuring the majestic sounds of the Fritsch Memorial Organ, performances by Carthage instrumental and choral ensembles, and the annual Service of Light.
The festival fills the A. F. Siebert Chapel for three identical performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. Sunday. The concerts are free, but reservations are required.
This year's festival finds its theme from the last lines of the fifth verse of the Catherine Winkworth translation of the Philipp Nicolai Christmas hymn "How Brightly Shines the Morning Star" (Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern).
There will be performances by the Carthage Choir, Carthage Women's Ensemble, Lincoln Chamber Singers, Gospel Messengers, A. F. Siebert Chapel Choir, and Carthage Wind Orchestra. Students from the Theatre Department also participate. Production is led by Carthage faculty members Peter Dennee and Charlotte Chell.
To order Christmas Festival tickets, please contact the Chapel Office by sending an e-mail to ChristmasFestival@carthage.edu or calling Debbie Clark at (262) 551-5810, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday (except Nov. 24-25).
