














Carthage held its annual Christmas Festival Dec. 4-6. "JOY! A Festival of Readings and Carols" featured the majestic sounds of the Fritsch Memorial Organ.
Every December, the program follows an age-old tradition of sharing the celebration of the birth of Christ through readings and music and includes Carthage's annual Service of Light.
The concert featured 280 Carthage students in performances by the Carthage Choir, Carthage Women's Ensemble, Lincoln Chamber Singers, Gospel Messengers, A. F. Siebert Chapel Choir, Wind Orchestra and other Instrumental Ensembles, as well as students from the Theatre Department. The programs were held in A. F. Siebert Chapel.
The Carthage Choir performed Thou Shalt Know Him, by Mark Sirett; Hodie Christus natus est, by Andrew Carter; Ding! Dong! Merrily On High, by Howard Helvey; and The Nativity of Christ, by J.A.C. Redford.
The Carthage Women's Ensemble performed O Magnum Mysterium, by Guy Forbes; On Christmas Night, an English carol arranged by B. Wayne Bisbee; and Gloria, by Ola Gjeilo.
The Lincoln Chamber Singers performed In Judah's Land, an Appalachian carol arranged by Michael Eglin; Come Let's Rejoice, by John Amner; and Sweeter Still, by Eric William Barnum.
The A.F. Siebert Chapel Choir performed Make We Joy Now In This Fest, by Malcolm Archer, and Psalm 98, arranged by Dimitri Shapovalov.
The Gospel Messengers performed Such Joy! by Larry Drake and Joy to the World, arranged by Kirk Franklin.
The program concluded with the annual Service of Light.
