Bestselling author Dario Castagno visits Carthage

The Carthage Music Department, in collaboration with the Luci Toscane Music and Cultural Arts Festival, presents a special multimedia presentation by New York Times bestselling author Dario Castagno on Nov. 8.

WHAT: Travelogue presentation and book signing by bestselling author Dario Castagno.

WHEN: 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. Prelude music begins at 2:45 p.m.

WHERE: A. F. Siebert Chapel, Carthage College.

ADMISSION: The event is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit earthquake victims in Abruzzo, Italy.

Mr. Castagno is the author of the worldwide bestseller "Too Much Tuscan Sun: Confessions of a Chianti Tour Guide," "A Day in Tuscany: More Confessions of a Chianti Tour Guide," and "Too Much Tuscan Wine."

He will present a video travelogue of his time in Siena, Italy, answer questions from the audience, and sign copies of his books. The event will be held at 3 p.m., with prelude music by the Carthage Brass Quintet at 2:45 p.m., in A. F. Siebert Chapel.

The event is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken during the presentation to benefit earthquake victims in Abruzzo, Italy.

Mr. Castagno’s visit is sponsored by Luci Toscane Music and Cultural Arts Festival, a 10-day festival held every June in the medieval city of Siena, Italy. The festival is organized by Diana Marie Iorio, a former violin instructor at Carthage. Ms. Iorio is the artistic director for Luci Toscane.

"The presentation will include opportunities for the community, young children, our elementary through university students, as well as families to experience the beauty and culture of one of the most intriguing regions of Italy, Tuscany," Ms. Iorio said.

The presentation will include film excerpts from "Siena: A World Apart," as well as footage of the famous Palio bareback horse race in the Piazza del Campo in Siena.
