Carthage elevated into top tier of national liberal arts institutions

In the most recent U.S.News & World Report "Best Colleges" guidebook, Carthage fares well among the nation's elite liberal arts institutions.

For the first time, Carthage is ranked among "national liberal arts colleges," defined by U.S.News as institutions "which emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half their degrees in liberal arts fields of study."

"Carthage is emerging. Every day and every year, the reality and perception of the College are improving."

Carthage ranks in the top 20 percent of institutions in that category.

"This is the result of two decades of aggressive investment in quality education, in quality curriculum, facilities, and faculty," says Bradley Andrews, senior vice president for academic resources. "Carthage is emerging. Every day and every year, the reality and perception of the College are improving. The latest U.S.News ranking, where Carthage fares well among the nation's elite liberal arts institutions is a great example."

Especially in the past decade, "there has been tremendous growth of interest in the College, and its stature," Mr. Andrews adds. "Applications have more than tripled, enrollment has reached unprecedented levels, and Carthage faculty and students enjoy national recognition and unique opportunities.

"In very real, demonstrable ways, Carthage has great momentum. It's the people — the students and the faculty — who really are driving the success story that is Carthage, and there's much promise on the horizon."
