Welcome!
The Great Ideas program offers a unique opportunity for Carthage students to study the origins of the fundamental ideas and questions that have underpinned the Western intellectual world since ancient times.
Thinkers such as Homer, Aristotle, Augustine, Cicero, Montaigne, Rousseau, Freud, Marx and Woolf provide the platform and first steps towards encountering and grappling with issues such as justice, love, freedom and nature.
The critical mind of the Great Ideas major and minor is always curious, processing complex material with effectiveness and speed, and ready to take and innovate the ideas of any era into whatever future career presents itself.
Please speak with any faculty member for more information.
