The International Political Economy program at Carthage is designed for students who want to focus their work in economics, political science and management on the evolving web of global relationships and the public policy discussions that help direct today's global economy.

Students take courses in business, economics, geography, modern languages, political science and social science. Because the major is strongly interdisciplinary and rooted in traditions of history and philosophy, students entering the IPE program should demonstrate a strong record of achievement in their general education coursework.

The IPE major also asks that students have an interest in abstract and theoretical thought, a desire to engage in written and oral debate, a broad interest in contemporary world affairs, and a genuine concern for the world's peoples.

The IPE program is one component of the A.W. Clausen Center for World Business. The Clausen Center unites the study of business, economics and political science in an international framework. The Center brings prominent business leaders to speak on campus, sponsors conferences and lectures, and is active in analysis of economic development and public policies that bear on our region.

The Center is housed in a first-class learning facility that has the handsome appearance of a corporate headquarters. From small classrooms featuring state-of-the-art technology to the Troha Boardroom reserved for student presentations, the Clausen Center prepares students for business leadership in a global economy.
