If don't know your user id or password, here is what you need to do:

E-mail id and password

Carthage e-mail addresses are generally first initial and last name, plus @carthage.edu. For example, the e-mail id for Janet Orlowski would be jorlowski@carthage.edu. If you have a common last name, you may have a number after your id, e.g. jsmith3@carthage.edu. To login, enter only the portion before the @.

You must contact the Hedberg Library Information desk to have your password reset if you forget it - in person or at 551-5950. The request may take up to two business days to fill, and you must pick up the information in person and have a picture id.

Novell user id and password

Novell user ids are the same as e-mail ids. For example, the Novell user id for James Ellis would be jellis. If you have a common last name, you may have a number in your id, e.g. mmiller2.

You can reset your own Novell password at any time using the worldwide web. Open a browser and point it to  https://password.carthage.edu/pwm/ Fill out the required information on the screen. You will then be prompted to enter a new password. Remember that your new password must be at least five characters long.

If the above does not work, contact the Information Desk at the Hedberg Library in person or at 551-5950. The request may take up to two business days to fill, and you must pick up the information in person and have a picture id.

Novell drives/Netstorage

  1. In your web browser, go to http://netstorage.carthage.edu/NetStorage
  2. Login with your Novell user id and password. You may need to use your "fully qualified name", which is in the format .username.group.carthage. Note that there is a period at the beginning but not at the end. For example, the full name for a student named jevans would be .jevans.student.carthage
  3. Once logged in, you'll note a list of available drives in the left panel. Click on one to open it. The folders should then appear in the right (larger) panel.
  4. Use the File menu above the right panel to Upload and Download files.
  5. Close the browser window when you are finished.

Admissions application password

If you have lost the password to your Carthage admissions application, please visit www.carthage.edu/apply and use the chat box on the upper right or email admissions@carthage.edu to request your password. If you have already applied and are checking on your application status, call the Admissions Office at 1-800-351-4058.

WiscNet user id and password

Your login for the WiscNet spam filter is your entire Carthage e-mail address. The first time you get a spam message, WiscNet will e-mail your initial password to your Carthage account. It is NOT your Carthage student id number. DO NOT delete that message until you have logged in to WiscNet and changed the initial password.

If you forget your password, you can have it e-mailed to your Carthage e-mail address by clicking on the Forgot your Password? link that appears when you enter an incorrect password on the Postini login screen. This will assign you another temporary password which you will have to change on your next login.

If the above does not work, send an e-mail from your Carthage e-mail account to helpdesk@carthage.edu to request that it be reset. The request may take up to two business days to fill, and your information will be e-mailed back to you.

From off-campus, you can access your Novell H drive and any other shared Novell drives that you normally have access to. Working with them in a browser is a bit different since you need to upload and download the files.

Other accounts

Most other applications, including personal web pages, the campus directory and the Insider, use your Novell user id and password. Your Novell user id is also what is required to print. Registration application programs, including enrolling for courses and seeing your grades, require a separate user id and password assigned by the Registrar's office. Contact them at 262-551-6100.
