
In this instance, your ITO comes into fruition via a specific technology you are interested in learning more about. Perhaps it is a technology you have seen a colleague use in the classroom, at a meeting, or during a presentation. You might have seen an interesting technology being used at a conference or discussed on a listserv or research article. You could also be inspired by your students - Do they use a certain technology that you want to try bringing into the classroom?

Another way to brainstorm ITOs is to think of an academic problem you or your students are currently dealing with and then find a technology that can help rectify the problem. This problem could be something that is slowing you down on the research front or something that your students consistently struggle with in one of your courses.
