Professor Pascal Rollet

Pascal Rollet specializes in the popular culture of modern France and in 19th century French literature. He teaches French, Western Heritage and Spanish. He has been teaching at Carthage since 1993.

Professor Rollet is committed to the promotion of study abroad and to the development of multi-cultural awareness. He has assembled a collection of video-based educational resources for students learning French. Professor Rollet filmed and interviewed a variety of young people in France, having them act out and discuss ordinary events in their lives. The site, http://www.rencontresduquotidien.com, contains video clips associated with educational resources promoting interaction in French. The site is targeted to American teachers of French and their students.

During the summer, Professor Rollet taught a seminar for American French teachers titled Teaching French in Music. In this course, participants learned how to use music to teach the French language and the cultures of francophone countries. In the course, participants studied the use of existing songs as a means to develop input and activities in elementary, intermediate and advanced language classes. Professor Rollet taught the students who to use computer software to compose their own songs and teach students to do the same, with the goal of increasing fluency and pronunciation.

Professor Rollet earned his Licence es lettres d'enseignement d'Anglais from the University of Caen, France, his M.A. from the University of Kentucky, and his Ph. D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
