Lakeside Choral Festival

Nov. 10-11, 2011

Dear Choral Colleague,

On behalf of the Carthage Music Department, I invite you to bring your choir(s) to Carthage's annual Lakeside Choral Festival. For Fall 2011 we will offer two days from which to choose for this event. Your choir may participate on Thursday, Nov. 10, or on Friday, Nov. 11.

You may sign up your choir for a 40-minute choral performance/clinic session during which time your choir may sing up to three pieces of your choosing. We will run simultaneous sessions and choirs will be assigned to work with Dr. Eduardo García-Novelli, director of the Carthage Choir, or Dr. Peter Dennee, director of the Carthage Women's Ensemble and Lincoln Chamber Singers. Those choirs that can be on campus over the noon hour are invited to participate in an informal concert where each choir may share one of their prepared choral works and a Carthage choral ensemble will also perform.

The cost of the event with lunch in the college dining hall is $4 per student; without lunch, $2 per student. Directors receive a free lunch ticket and an additional free adult ticket will be given for every 20 students participating. Space is limited. Participation and scheduling for the daylong event is on a first-come-first-served basis. Advance registration is required. Advance payment (Payable to Carthage College) is appreciated but not required. If you pay in advance, please have payment postmarked by Oct. 30. Otherwise you may bring the check with you to the Festival. To register and schedule your choir and singers for the festival, please complete the Registration Form.

Finally, on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, we will host our Sixth annual Real Men and Women Do Sing! festival. This is a daylong event culminating in a concert with Racine's Dairy Statesmen and a guest barbershop quartet. This year will be the third time we also host a Women's Choir Festival at the same time. Both groups will rehearse throughout the day and sing a concert in the evening. If you wish to receive more information about this event, please send an email to Mr. Bob Gall at rgall@wi.rr.com with "Mens/Womens Choir Festival" in the subject line.

Dr. Dennee and I are available to work with your choirs outside of the Lakeside Choral Festival as well. We would enjoy working with you and your students in your school setting or here on the Carthage campus. Please contact either of us to make arrangements.

We hope that you and your choirs can participate in one or more of the events we are offering here at Carthage next fall and we look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Eduardo García-Novelli
