Lambda Kappa, Professional Music Fraternity, is a co-ed
organization for students who have a love for music. The organization
is open to all students who are involved in a musical ensemble on or off
campus whether or not they are a music major or minor. The purpose of
this fraternity is to encourage high standards in creativity,
performance and education of music, and to advocate a collective support
of all endevours of students of music.

Obbligato
club is a student-led club focused on music composition. The group
meets weekly to create music. Members have written a few pieces for
other organizations and people, and currently help others understand and
write musical compositions using paper and technology. The group was
formed in Fall 2009. The club is open to anyone; there is no membership
fee.

Carthage has a chapter of MENC: The National Association for Music Education, which has recently become an active organization on campus. The focus of the group is to help prepare music education students for their chosen profession through bi-weekly meetings, professional development opportunities, and service projects within the music department on campus and in the community. It is a priority of the members of MENC to become competent and caring educators in the field of music to enrich the lives of students.

The Carthage Handbell Choir is a student led and directed ensemble on campus. This group is a wonderful opportunity for students of all majors to get together and play handbells. The group performs for various services during the semester, including Wednesday Chapel services on campus, as well as leading worship at local churches. The group forst started in the spring of 2009 when a generous donation was made to Carthage for the specific use of buying a set of handbells. This group continues to grow each semester and has become a prominent performing ensemble on campus.
Maximum Capacity is a new student led male a capella group which started on campus in the spring of 2011. Any male is eligible to audition for this group regardless of his major or minor. Maximum Capacity sings a variety of songs and performs them around campus.
