Carthage team takes top prize in math competition

Students in the Carthage Mathematics Department won the Face Off! mathematics competition at the Spring 2010 meeting of the Wisconsin Section of the Mathematical Association of America, held on April 16 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The students defeated 10 other teams from across the state of Wisconsin.

Face Off! is a mathematics game show in which teams of 2-4 undergraduates answer questions from the broad realm of mathematics.

Members of the Carthage team were Chad Kelterborn, '13, from Northville, Mich.; Dan Gerber, '10, from Onalaska, Wis.; John Voynovich, '10, from Chicago; and Emily Schiavone, '10, from Kenosha. 

This marks the fourth consecutive victory for the Carthage team in Face Off! competitions, dating back to the fall of 2008 competition at the St. Norbert College Pi Mu Epsilon Undergraduate Research Conference.
