The Trio Levade will perform at Carthage on Friday, Sept. 17. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the H.F. Johnson Recital Hall. The trio will perform works of Biber, Haydn, Beethoven and Arbos. Members of the Trio Levade are Darlene Rivest on violin, Michael Klein on cello, and Jane Mac Alla Livingston on piano.
The Trio Levade was recently invited to perform the "Gypsy Rondo" movement of a Haydn trio at the San Diego Chamber Music Workshop, held in Claremont, Calif. July 25-Aug. 1. Participation in the workshop was by audition only.Ms. Rivest, a Racine-area violinist and violist, teaches both instruments as an adjunct member of the Carthage music faculty. She performs in the Racine Symphony, Kenosha Symphony, Waukesha Symphony, and Milwaukee’s Festival City Symphony. An avid chamber musician, she also performs in several trios and a quartet, and has also performed as a soloist with the Carthage Chamber Orchestra, the Southern Lakes Masterpiece Chorale Orchestra, and the Milton-Janesville Choral Union Orchestra. She also co-directs the Chamber Orchestra.
Mr. Klein began his music education with private lessons at the age of 6 with Sr. Carolyn Schlueter in Dubuque, Iowa. He later studied with Charles Wendt at the University of Iowa and Helga Winold at Indiana University, where he earned his bachelor of science in music education. He has performed with the Beloit Janesville Symphony, the Janesville Choral Union and the Edgewood Chamber Orchestra. He enjoys the challenge and reward of preparing and performing chamber music, and performs with the Trio d'Amies, Sapphire String Quartet and the Stargazer Trio in addition to Trio Levade.
Ms. Livingston is a music professor at Carthage. She joined the Carthage faculty in 1993, after teaching at Northwestern University's School of Music. She has studied under Albert Pflanz, Edward Hausman, Elaine Greenfield, Ronald Tarr, Arthur Tollefson, and Donald Isaak. She also performs with the Kenosha Symphony, various bands, and theatrical orchestras including the Racine Theatre Guild.
