She is author of the 2000 book, "Roaring Camp: The Social World of the California Gold Rush," and has taught at the University of Michigan, the University of California-Los Angeles, and the University of Colorado.
Prof. Johnson's free lecture closes the month-long "Models of Leadership" speaker series, held in conjunction with the "Creating in the Wild Zone" art exhibit at the Johnson Gallery of Art, which continues through March 12.
