Jason Derulo will perform at Carthage on Tuesday, May 3, in Tarble Arena. The concert begins at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m. Holding Mercury will open the show.
Tickets for the general public are $20 plus shipping and handling and may only be purchased online by visiting www.carthagecollege.tickets.musictoday.com. No public tickets will be sold by phone, or at any outlet.
A limited number of tickets are available to full-time Carthage students for $10 in person at the Dean of Students office, payable with cash or check. (Please bring your student ID card.) Students may each purchase no more than two tickets until supplies run out.
This is a general admission show. There will be no fixed or assigned seats.
Derulo is a Miami native who has been performing since the age of 5. He wrote his first song at age 8. He has been writing songs for other artists since he was 16, has acted in theatre productions including "Ragtime" and "Smokey Joe's Café," and won the grand prize on the 2006 season finale of the TV show "Showtime at the Apollo."
Released in August 2009, Derulo's single "Watcha Say" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 2009. His self-titled album released March 2, 2010, went gold in Australia, Canada and the U.K. He was an opening act for Lady Gaga's 2009-10 tour.
This show is part of the WOW concert series at Carthage, which has presented musical acts such as Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Bob Dylan, Art Alexakis of "Everclear," Live, and The Fray, as well as comedians Darrell Hammond and Dean Edwards from Saturday Night Live, and Brad Sherwood from "Whose Line is It Anyway?"
