The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Education will host a workshop titled "Unpacking the Power of Picturebooks" Aug. 3-5. The workshop will be held in the New Berlin Public Library.
This summer literacy program is for anyone who loves books. Teachers of grades kindergarten through eight will find activities, titles and many resources that are motivating, effective and practical. Improve your use of quality picture books to generate and practice powerful reading strategies across elementary levels.
There will be a core session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3. A session on comprehension and fluency will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 4. A session on social studies/study skills will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 5. A session on science/math will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5.
