SURE Poster Session Tuesday

September 12, 2011

Students share their work, results from the 2011
Summer Undergraduate Research Experience

Students who participated in the 2011 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience will present their research at a poster session on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The poster session will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the foyer of Hedberg Library.

This summer, 21 Carthage students worked with faculty mentors on research projects in biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, geography, mathematics, neuroscience, physics and psychology. Several more students worked on projects in the social sciences and the Great Ideas Program.

The Carthage Summer Undergraduate Research Experience, or SURE, offers students the opportunity to engage in collaborative research with faculty mentors. Students selected for the program work closely with a faculty mentor on a new or developing line of research in the natural sciences or mathematics. SURE provides a stipend, room and board, and a research budget.
