The Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities has partnered with the United Council of UW Students and the Wisconsin Technical College District Boards Association in a joint effort to "Protect Financial Aid."
Less than one-half of 1 percent of the state budget — that's what our state government spends to provide financial aid for Wisconsin’s college students.
Now, try to divide that amount among the 60,000 or so Wisconsin college students who currently receive financial aid — and realize there are yet another 35,000 students who qualify for financial aid, but there’s not enough money to help them.
As state legislators grapple with a projected $3 billion budget deficit and the challenges of crafting a new budget, protecting financial aid for Wisconsin students becomes critical.
Wisconsin students at Carthage collectively received $828,803 in funding through the WTG in 2009-10.
We need everyone — alumni, friends, students, faculty, staff, parents, neighbors, relatives — to join the effort. Sign the petition to make a difference. Then post it on Facebook. Tweet it. Ask everyone you know to join us.
95,023 Wisconsin college students are counting on you.
