Forty religion students and twenty faculty members appreciate your visit. And, we invite you to study religion with us!
At Carthage, one of the ways we learn to know our global neighbors is through exploring their faith experience. After all, six out of seven billion people think of themselves as people of faith. They celebrate life together, debate its puzzles, and find ways to exercise love, compassion, and dedication to truth.
But religious study goes well beyond just learning about others.
For many students the study of faith traditions prompts an inner journey of self discovery which refines, focuses and deepens their own faith experience. This happens in the middle of a community of fellow students experiencing the same sort of growth.
We at Carthage also explicitly value our Lutheran heritage.
Fully half of our department's coursework explores Christianity in some dimension. Christian theology, church history, Biblical studies, and ethics courses all take their place alongside many topically oriented courses in Christian issues.
Please think about making our department your home as you launch your in-depth exploration of religious faith. We think you'll find the experience very rewarding, and we would welcome the opportunity to walk with you on some small part of your journey.
Peace,
Prof. Rom Maczka, PhD
Chair, Religion Department
