Parking Permit Lottery

2008 - 2009 Residential Parking Permit Lottery

The parking permit lottery for the 2008 - 2009 academic year will commence on Monday April 7, 2008. Current residential students are allowed to enter the lottery for a permit in the lot of their choosing. Resident lots for the 2008 - 2009 academic year are Lot J (the Johnson Hall lot), and Lot A (the lot west of the existing Physical Education Building), Lot V (the Tennis Center lot) and Lot P. Lot P is located at 912 35th Street (1.1 miles south of the main campus). The satellite parking facility is designed for the student who may wish to warehouse their vehicle near campus and is a low cost parking option.

The lottery will be conducted as follows.

  1. Only current resident students are allowed to enter the parking permit lottery. A current resident student is defined as, living in a college residence for the spring 2008 term, and is registered for the fall 2008 term by the end of the lottery application period.

  1. Current residential students may sign up for the lottery in the Carthage Business Office during normal business hours. A registration form indicating your parking lot preference must be completed at that time. A $140.00 deposit is required. This $140.00 will be credited towards the cost of the permit. For those students wishing to sign up for a Lot P permit, a $30.00 permit fee is required in lieu of a deposit. Permit Fees are refundable for a change in residency status prior to the opening of the fall term. After the start of the term only pro-rated rebates will be provided.

  1. The campus apartment complex (1625 Sheridan Road) is included in the parking lottery. The 12-space apartment lot will be awarded via the lottery. Other apartment dwellers may purchase Lot V permits only if available. You must be a resident of the apartment complex to apply for this specific lot.

  1. Students residing in campus housing at any 17 Street home must purchase a Lot S permit. A limit of 3 cars per home driveway will be imposed.

  1. Lottery registration ends at 4:00 PM Friday May 9, 2008. The lottery will be conducted on Monday May 12, 2008. The results will be posted in the Todd Wehr Center and the Business Office.

  1. After placing all lottery applicants, remaining permits will go on sale on a first come, first served basis on Wednesday May 14, 2008. The full purchase price of the permit will be required at the time of sale. New students for the fall may purchase a permit starting on this date.

  1. Students who are unsuccessful in obtaining spaces in Lot J via the lottery will be awarded a Lot A permit unless they stipulate an alternate choice.

  1. Permits will be distributed at the time of check-in for the fall term. Students must pick up their permits by 4:00 PM Thursday September 4, 2008. Unclaimed permits will be resold after that date.

Prior experience indicates that all permits will be sold before the opening of the fall term and that no permits will be available for sale at the time of the August and September check-in. If you plan to participate in any internship, observation hours, student teaching or enroll in any program that will require you to maintain a vehicle on campus at anytime, during any term, during the next academic year, we strongly encourage you to enter the lottery to obtain a permit. Please plan ahead to avoid disappointment in this matter. Carthage Parking Lots Description and Information Lot J Lot J is located immediately adjacent to both Johnson and South Residence Halls.
