Heritage Fellows

Brian Zielinski, ’11

Hometown: Lake Villa, Ill.
Majors: Economics and marketing

Brian Zielinksi was named a Heritage Fellow his sophomore year. He meets with students taking Western Heritage to assist with thought organization, argument formation, grammar, reading comprehension and other skills.

“I wanted to be a Fellow because it gives me the opportunity to learn from students, as well as share with students what I have learned,” he said. “I enjoy helping students improve their work.”

Why Carthage? “I was drawn to Carthage by the school’s size, the school’s reputation, and the simple fact that Carthage is a place where I feel comfortable.”

Favorite class: “Economic Geography with Julio Rivera. Professor Rivera teaches lessons that transcend the classroom – lessons that are clear and practical.” Other professors who have had a significant impact on Brian include religion professor Christian Von Dehsen and economics professor Brent McClintock, he said.

Toughest class: Financial Management.

Favorite moments at Carthage: “Every day.”

Career goals: He hopes to attend law school after graduation.
