Nick Huff ’15 and an opera performing career that moves on solid ground
Nicholas Huff ’15 has just finished creating the lead tenor role, Fabian Hart, in the world premiere of “If I Were You,” a new opera by the world’s leading opera composer Jake Heggie for Merola Opera of San Francisco. Merola is a world-renowned training intensive summer program, and acts as a feeder program for the San Francisco Opera Young Artist Studio. Mr. Huff worked with some of the world’s finest coaches and teachers, such as Warren Jones, Martin Katz, and the San Francisco Opera Studio coaches and teachers.
Mr. Huff was also featured in the Merola Grand Finale, an opera scenes and arias concert with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra on the stage of the War Memorial Opera House, singing the bedroom duet between Paris and Helen from Offenbach’s “La belle Hélène.”
Mr. Huff is also engaged to join the studio of the Florida Grand Opera (FGO) of Miami for their 2019-2020 season, where he will sing leading roles such as Don Ottavio in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” and Paolino in “Il matrimonio segreto,” by Cimarosa. He will also sing small roles such as Matteo Borsa in “Rigoletto” and concertize throughout Miami and Ft. Lauderdale for FGO.
A Kenosha native and Carthage alumnus, Mr. Huff always maintains a Wisconsin connection in his performance season. He will give a recital at the Kenosha Creative Space at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, and returns as a soloist to the Messiah singalong at Fine Arts At the First concert series this December at Kenosha 1st United Methodist Church.
