Soviet-era art exhibition pieces arrive at Carthage
The first pieces from the Sam and Berry Shoen Collection of Soviet Art have arrived on campus.
Carthage will showcase the pieces in the “Milestones” exhibit Tuesday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 29, in the H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art. This exhibition donated generously by the Shoens will feature works by artists such as Tkachev, Krylov, Nechitailo, and Semenyuk. Masha Zavialov is the guest curator.
“Milestones” is part of a January symposium hosted by the Division of Arts and Humanities that will bring together music, film, and visual art. Thursday, Jan. 26 through Friday, Jan. 28, Carthage will welcome guest speakers and curators, as well as present a cello sonata featuring our own faculty.
