Tim Eckert, professor emeritus of chemistry, is the sole author of an article recently published in the Journal of Chemical Education.

The paper, entitled “Estimating Water Solubilities of Monofunctional, Uncharged Organic Molecules,” summarizes the surprising consistency of aqueous solubilities of many organic chemicals, based solely on their numbers of carbon atoms. It is intended to help instructors and students in the organic chemistry lab to design and appreciate the solvent systems used to carry out chemical reactions and isolate products.

Prof. Emeritus Tim Eckert publishes paper about the water solubility of organic molecules.
