We are offering in-person, written feedback, and Zoom virtual writing consultations.

In-person writing consultations take place in the Brainard Writing Center (HL213B). Appointments can be made up to the time of the appointment, and drop-ins are available whenever a fellow has an open hour.

Live virtual writing consultations are akin to the in-person consultations that normally occur in the Writing Center space but are conducted on Zoom using Google Docs. Appointments can be made up to the time of the appointment, but we do not accept drop-ins on Zoom.

Written feedback writing consultations offer you the greatest amount of flexibility as you do not have to be present when the writing fellow is providing feedback on your paper. They will work on the paper at the time you have booked the appointment and then return the paper to you. Written feedback is available by appointment only.

In order for the Writing Fellow to provide the most useful feedback, please do the following:

  • be sure to share a brief description of your concerns in the provided textbox on the appointment form
  • share a Google Doc with any writing you have already done with writingcenter@carthage.edu (be sure to allow us permission to comment or edit)

A note about proofreading: Writing Fellows are happy to help you discover patterns of error in your writing and share grammar rules and resources with you to help you correct those errors and avoid them in future writing. You, as the writer, will be responsible for the final edits, just as you are responsible for the content. If you have specific grammar questions, please let us know when you share your other concerns on your appointment form.
