J-Term

J-Term is a month-long period of study in January in which all academic departments offer innovative courses on campus, as well as study tours in other countries. Students studying Asian studies at Carthage have opportunities to visit the countries they are studying during J-Term study tours.

Study Abroad

Students studying Asian studies at Carthage have many other opportunities to study outside the United States, in addition to J-Term:

  • Academic exchange program in Japan in cooperation with Tokyo Gakugai University (semester or full-year)
  • Academic exchange program in China in cooperation with South Ocean University (semester, full-year, or summer term)

Student Organizations

Carthage has more than 130 student clubs and organizations through which students can get involved, explore possible careers, meet other students, work closely with faculty advisors, and perform customer service. Clubs popular with Asian Studies students include Alpha Mu Gamma, a national honorary foreign language fraternity; Chinese Club; and Japanese Club.
