Engineering Major
Earn your degree in engineering at Carthage
The engineering major at Carthage is rooted in the liberal arts, designed to emphasize student self-discovery and exploration and provide opportunities to grow in all facets of life. The engineering degree is hands-on and experiential; students learn to become engineers by practicing engineering under the guidance of faculty mentors.
The engineering major builds on a solid science and mathematics base and teaches students engineering through the practice of engineering in design. Courses incorporate computing tools and environments used most commonly by professional engineers starting in the first year and continuing throughout the major. Students pursue areas of specialization by tailoring their course of study following their second year of coursework.
Special academic options for engineering majors
Carthage has partnered with two prominent engineering universities to offer dual-degree (3+2) opportunities. You’ll spend three years at Carthage and your final two years at either Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland or Washington University in St. Louis. While at Carthage, you’ll major in natural sciences, mathematics, or computer science.
