Meet our German TLE

Tim Olbrich (Bretten, Germany)

“Hallo erstmal! My name is Tim Olbrich, and I come from Bretten, a quiet little town located in the southwest of Germany.

Last year, I graduated from Heidelberg University with a degree in English and Spanish philology, and I am now pursuing a Master of Education here at Carthage. In Germany, I have given private lessons in Spanish and worked as a substitute teacher at a vocational school. However, I have also had some teaching experience abroad. I was an intern at the University of Milan in Italy for Spanish language classes, as well as an English teaching assistant in Chile while studying at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso.

Nonetheless, I am very excited to be teaching my mother tongue, German, for the first time. Besides German (including my native dialect), English, and Spanish, I also speak French and some Italian. Hence, I have always been passionate about learning languages — a passion which I can hopefully pass on to some of my students! While doing so, I’m also hoping to break up some stereotypes about German culture, but I am equally eager to learn from my American and international students!

Wir freuen uns. Schauen wir mal, was wird!”
