Risa Kageyama (Japan)
TLE: 2021-22

“Hi, I’m Risa from Hokkaido, Japan. After I got a bachelor’s degree in international economics and business in Tokyo, I came to Carthage College and am currently teaching Japanese. Before I came here, I was studying abroad in Nebraska for a year as an exchange student from my college in Japan, and I was tutoring Japanese classes at the time. As I spent time in Nebraska, I was interested in exchanging culture with friends in the U.S. and had a dream to be a Japanese teacher. I’m so pleased that my dream came true and am always having fun with other TLEs in a dorm on campus. After class, I play tennis with other TLEs and sometimes cook or bake together. I’m excited to learn education for my master’s degree, and Carthage will definitely give me priceless experiences for two years.”

TLE: 2021-22

“こんにちは I am Misuzu. I was born and raised in Japan. I just earned my bachelor’s degree in Japanese literature. I also completed all the requirements of a Japanese language teacher training course throughout my four years of college. Have you ever tried Japanese food such as sushi or tempura? Do you like watching anime or reading manga? If you are interested in Japanese culture, I would love to share all of my experiences in Japan. I enjoy cooking, reading, listening to music, and doing all kinds of outdoor activities in my free time. I can’t wait to see all of you and have a great time together!”
