The Carthage Treble Choir has developed a strong reputation throughout the region as a model for choral excellence. This choir has premiered several new works for treble choir including Ola Gjeilo’s “I Rise!” premiered in 2010 at the Wisconsin State Music Conference.

In addition to multiple appearances at the state music educator’s conference, the choir also performed by invitation at the North Central Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in 2016.

A highly select auditioned ensemble of over sixty singers, the choir performs music from all genres of choral literature — medieval through 21st century; sacred and secular; as well as arrangements of folk songs, popular musics, and world musics. Carthage, a liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has fostered the rich tradition of choral singing found in Lutheran colleges throughout the United States. Many of Carthage’s ensembles tour regionally, nationally, and internationally. Recent national tours of the Treble Choir include Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, and Virginia. Internationally, the choir has performed in Austria, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia. In 2019 the choir will tour to Tanzania.

Membership in the choir is by individual audition.
