Program Basics

CNA classes are held in the Nursing Learning Laboratory on the Carthage College campus in Lentz Hall. Students complete two 8-hour clinical rotations in a healthcare setting under the supervision of a faculty member. The program includes the state licensure exam needed to be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry.

Full Scholarships Available for January 2024

The CNA Duncan Family Scholarship Program reflects a commitment to health care and education. Local philanthropists Tom and Jan Duncan want to expand the number of trained CNAs in this region. The scholarship funds fees, supplies, and exam costs (approximately a $1,000 value).

Apply for admission and the scholarship by Nov. 27, 2023. A panel will select 16 scholarship recipients who best represent the four pillars of excellence laid out by the donors — education, patient care, compassion, and quality — in a 250-word essay discussing the Ethical Responsibilities of the Nursing Assistant. Students will be notified of the status (selected or waitlisted) on Dec. 12, 2023.

Future Career Growth

According to a Salary.com report in October, the median CNA salary in Wisconsin was $35,039. CNAs gain first-hand experience and insight into the medical profession that often leads to pursuing a bachelor’s degree as a registered nurse, physician assistant, physical therapist, occupational therapist, physician, or other allied health science profession. Students who complete the program receive an application fee waiver to apply for a Carthage College undergraduate program.
