Carthage has more than 130 student clubs and organizations through which students can get involved, explore possible careers, meet other students, work closely with faculty advisors, and perform customer service. Alpha Kappa Delta

Alpha Kappa Delta is Carthage’s honorary sociology society. Students need a 3.3 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in sociology courses to be inducted and are eligible during their junior year.

Pals and Partners

The Pals and Partners program is very popular with Carthage sociology majors. The program pairs Carthage students with community children who are identified as “at-risk” because of home life or experiences in school. Carthage students provide positive role models for the children, help them understand the importance of school, and encourage them to get involved in positive activities outside the classroom. Participants must commit a minimum of two hours per week to the program.

Habitat for Humanity

The Carthage chapter of Habitat for Humanity strives to eliminate poverty. Locally, the organization works with a Racine affiliate by volunteering work in the Kenosha/Racine area. Every spring break members go on an annual Collegiate Challenge trip and travel to places like Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Georgia. While on these trips students volunteer their help in building homes for low-income families. All students are welcome to join, and no building experience is necessary.
