Apply & Audition
Applicants for the M.M. in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy must have an earned bachelor’s degree in music (voice) or music theatre. Students with deficits in voice study or musicianship will be asked to complete additional coursework during their study in order to complete the M.M.
To be considered for admission, all applicants must submit:
- An application including application fee
- Official transcripts (in English) of all undergraduate coursework
- A current resume
- Two letters of recommendation attesting to preparedness for graduate study in music theatre vocal pedagogy
In addition to the application, candidates must complete an interview and performance audition to demonstrate vocal and musicianship skills. For the performance audition, candidates must prepare four complete contrasting music theatre songs, from which the panel will choose. Interviews and auditions will be scheduled by the director of the program, Dr. Corinne Ness.
Non-native English speakers must demonstrate language competency through transcript review and interview or TOEFL or IELTS exam scores.
Have you started your graduate program but life got in the way? Completed course work, but never finished? Now is the perfect time to finish earning your graduate degree.
Depending on the admission policy of the program, a student may be allowed credit for work completed at the graduate level prior to enrolling at Carthage. The applicant must provide official transcripts documenting the completed work and the grades obtained for this work. These grades must meet the Carthage admission standards.
