Carthage awards 15 $2,500 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Leadership (DEIL) Fellows Program Scholarships to incoming students. These scholarships are renewable for four years.

The DEIL Fellows program promotes diversity and student participation in campus life through volunteerism and academic excellence. Scholarship recipients will share their unique strengths and diverse perspectives through their involvement in on-campus activities, in the classroom and through their participation in community service.

DEIL Fellows program candidates are selected from students who are admitted to Carthage and who have submitted the separate DEIL Fellows program application, along with the required essay. Upon completion of the application and essay, selected students will be asked to complete a phone or video chat interview in January/February.

The Carthage commitment to scholars extends beyond the 15 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Leadership (DEIL) Fellows Program Scholarships. Top students typically receive a substantial package of multiple non-need-based awards. Many qualify for additional need-based assistance, making Carthage quite affordable.

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Leadership (DEIL) Fellows Program Scholarships may incorporate all Carthage assistance. Scholarships and grants may be combined with federal and state grants, not to exceed full tuition.
