Carthage awards up to 10 Tarble Scholarships up to $27,000 per year to admitted students from California. These scholarships are available to incoming freshmen or transfer students.

Carthage has established the Tarble Family Scholarship Program for California students who exhibit a spirit of adventure. The Tarble Scholarships honor the contributions and leadership of the Tarble family throughout California, and offer horizon-expanding opportunities for travel and learning. These scholarships are renewable annually based on recipients maintaining a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5, and may incorporate all Carthage assistance.

The Office of Admissions will screen applications and identify candidates most suitable for the Tarble Family California Scholarship.

How to Apply

Candidates interested in the Tarble Family California Scholarship must complete the following no later than December 3:

  • Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
  • Submit the Tarble Family California Scholarship Application, available in October. (The Tarble Family California Scholarship Application has passed for fall 2022 freshmen. • Submit required essay (500-word maximum): People embrace adventure in their lives in a variety of different ways.
