Veronica Hunter Moore ’05 was the first African-American elected president of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors, completing her term in 2016. The AFA presented Ms. Moore, director of educational programs at Delta Upsilon Fraternity, the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award in 2017. In addition to her service work, the alumna runs Alma & Eva, a company devoted to women’s empowerment.”

Veronica Hunter Moore received a 2019 Carthage Beacon Award.She received a Carthage Beacon Award in April 2019.

“Some of my favorite Carthage memories include being a member of the Women’s Track and Field Team, late-night capture-the-flag tournaments, touring Europe with the Gospel Messengers, and being crowned Carthage Homecoming Queen,” she says. “Carthage provided me with an opportunity to expand my world view. I was an inner city girl who only knew about life around her.

“Coming to Carthage exposed me to different cultures and opportunities. It forced me to think critically about my own individual identity and how I viewed the world.”
