Even though we’re nestled in a setting that hasn’t changed much since the last ice age — and we have 168 years under our belt as an institution — our facilities and resources look sparkling new. That’s because they are. Our athletic and recreation center, student union, computer labs, audiovisual production suite, and numerous residence halls have all been constructed or newly renovated in the last 10 years. And our soon-to-be-finished science center caps it off.

Residence Halls
Living on campus provides some of the most memorable moments of your college experience. Carthage’s residence halls offer an exciting environment for living and learning. Our halls provide easy access to educational programs, leadership opportunities, and a full calendar of social activities. See building hours

Campbell Student Union
Considered by students to be our “campus living room,” the Stu offers food, coffee, a theatre, a bookstore, foosball, pool, and a place to escape when your roommate’s band practice turns into an encore. See building hours

The TARC
The N. E. Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center has 156,000 square feet of workout space and an equally large name. So around campus, we just call it The TARC. See building hours

H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art
The H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art at displays work by both established and emerging artists from the Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison areas, and beyond. But also gives Carthaginians the opportunity to display what they’ve worked on just a few floors below in the Johnson Art Center. See building hours

Chapels
Although many of our students are Lutherans or Roman Catholics, you will find that we share and welcome opinions, experiences, and stories of faith from all religions. Our four chapels embody that spirit of sharing and meditation. See building hours

Academic Buildings
Carthage has glass-walled classrooms that host both business and religion courses, a 65,000 sq. ft. modern library that has ancient documents and cutting-edge technology, a building that houses a green house and two theatres, and another that allows you to practice a sonata and then take a class about World War II in the same hallway. You’ll be exposed to different ideas from different subjects just by the act of entering into any of our academic buildings. See building hours
