Joining a Greek Organization
Carthage is home to 14 local and nationally affiliated sororities and fraternities. Carthage College fraternities and sororities recruit new members every fall and spring. Fall Recruitment happens in September; Spring Recruitment happens in February. Recruitment is open to students who are second-semester freshmen or above, and meet GPA requirements.
Grow as a Leader
Leadership skills are gained from experience. By joining a fraternity or sorority, students enrich their college experience, build valuable relationships, and have many opportunities to contribute to society. Fraternities and
sororities are self-governing organizations, and each member fulfills a role. In addition, Greek students are highly involved in other campus organizations, often holding leadership positions. Members gain skills in goal-setting, decision-making, communication, delegation, public speaking, integrity, accountability, and time management.
Strive for academic excellence
Service and scholarship have long been the cornerstones of fraternities or sororities, and that tradition continues at Carthage. Each fraternity and sorority requires GPA minimums for membership, and those levels must be maintained to hold leadership positions and to participate in social functions. Greek organizations encourage study hours, tutoring, group study sessions, and membership in major-related organizations.
Give back to your community
Community service is a regular part of life for the Carthage Greek community. Building a lifelong habit of service helps students to value different perspectives and become servant leaders in their communities. Carthage Greek organizations support Make-A-Wish, the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, Women and Children’s Horizons, the Have Dreams Foundation, Shalom Center, Parkside Manor Alzheimer’s/Memory Care, and Safe Harbor Humane Society, among others.
A home away from home
Becoming a member of a fraternity or sorority is a lifelong commitment; you are joining organizations that have existed for many decades. To sustain such longevity, Greek organizations value deep and meaningful relationships in which students can find true camaraderie and a sense of belonging. Greek activities on campus include mentoring programs, conferences, and networking opportunities, along with the fun stuff. Formal dances, intramurals, banquets, and road trips are just some of the activities that will give you memories to last a lifetime.
Greek Life at Carthage is comprised of 14 fraternal social organizations dedicated to furthering the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood. We are a diverse set of organizations with the common purpose of fostering a respectful community and chapters. We enhance leadership through service and involvement within the campus and community.
