Health and Counseling Center

Counseling Services

The Health and Counseling Center offers short-term personal counseling. Counseling is free and available to all full-time undergraduate Carthage College students.

Our licensed providers are here to help students with challenges that can be resolved with short-term, solution-focused counseling. If the issue is more serious, our providers will help students find the best community resources.

When classes are in session, the Health and Counseling Center is open 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, though hours may change as our team makes adjustments to meet the needs of the campus community.

Teletherapy Services

We continue to encourage students to schedule teletherapy visits as a safe and convenient way to access counseling. Call us at 262-551-5710 to schedule a teletherapy appointment.

In-person counseling visits (including walk-in visits) are not available at this time. If you have an urgent condition that needs medical attention, please seek appropriate care.

Challenges often addressed during counseling

  • Managing emotions such as anxiety, depression, guilt, grief, and anger
  • Personal, family, and relationship challenges
  • Traumatic experiences
  • Educational and academic goals
  • Problems with sleep
  • Difficulty with alcohol or other substances
  • Sexual, emotional, and physical abuse

The Health and Counseling Center does not offer 24-hour services. If you need after-hours or crisis care assistance, please refer to the After Hours / Crisis Care page.

The Health and Counseling Center offers additional services to the entire Carthage community, including consultation for students, faculty, staff, and concerned others and education on various mental health and wellness topics. For more information, please contact Lydia Zopf | 262-551-5710.
