Health and Counseling Center

Counseling Services

The Health and Counseling Center offers short-term personal counseling. Counseling is free and available to all full-time undergraduate Carthage College students.

Our licensed providers are here to help students with challenges that can be resolved with short-term, solution-focused counseling. If the issue is more serious, our providers will help students find the best community resources.

When classes are in session, students can be seen by appointment Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm (the last appointment time of the day is 4:00pm). To schedule an appointment, please call 262-551-5710 or stop by the Center. We do not schedule appointments online or through email.

Walk-in hours are available daily from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Walk-in services are brief consultations for emergencies and urgent needs and are not a substitution for counseling.

Challenges often addressed during counseling include:

  • Managing emotions such as anxiety, depression, guilt, grief, and anger
  • Personal, family, and relationship challenges
  • Traumatic experiences
  • Educational and academic goals
  • Problems with sleep
  • Difficulty with alcohol or other substances
  • Sexual, emotional, and physical abuse

The Health and Counseling Center does not offer 24-hour services. If you need after hours or crisis care assistance, please refer to the After Hours / Crisis Care tab.

The Health and Counseling Center offers additional services to the entire Carthage community, including consultation for students, faculty, staff, and concerned others and education on various mental health and wellness topics. For more information, please contact Lydia Zopf  lzopf@carthage.edu / 262-551-5710.
