Carthage has more than 120 student groups and organizations through which students can get involved, explore possible careers, meet other students, work closely with faculty advisors, and perform community service. The following organizations are popular with Carthage chemistry students.
Chemistry Club (Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society)
The Carthage Chemistry Club is very active in outreach events at schools, participates in local American Chemical Society meetings, plans social gatherings, and builds a wonderful sense of community in the Chemistry Department among students and faculty.
Theta Chi Delta
The Theta Chi Delta honorary chemistry fraternity was established at Carthage in March 1926. This group works to provide services for those students who are studying in the field of chemistry. Members must have a 3.0 grade-point average over three semesters of chemistry.
Pre-Health Club is for students who want to pursue a career in the health field. This includes students who are pre-medicine, pre-veterinary, pre-pharmacy, pre-occupational therapy and pre-dental. Members serve others in the community, gather for MCAT study sessions, job-shadow physicians, and do other activities that will help set students apart when it comes to applying for higher education.
