Carthage has adopted a non-discriminatory Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Policy based upon the guidelines suggested in the December 2, 1985, General Statement on Institutional Response to HIV/AIDS by the American College Health Association.

In the event an administrative decision needs to be made with respect to an individual student, faculty member, or staff member with HIV/AIDS, it will be made on a case-by-case basis by the appropriate administrative offices in consultation with both medical and legal experts.

The right to privacy for all individuals will be respected and protected, and the confidentiality of any records that may be required will be maintained. The Carthage HIV/AIDS policy can be found in the Faculty Handbook. Questions regarding the Carthage HIV/AIDS policy may be directed to members of the Office of Student Life.
