Exercise and Sport Science
Students take courses in health and wellness education, coaching, nutrition, first aid and safety, consumer health issues, psychology, kinesiology, and physiology. Students develop an understanding of the history and philosophy of exercise and sport programs while learning how to best teach, motivate, evaluate, and organize sports and fitness activities and programs.
The Department offers majors in athletic training and exercise and sport science, as well as a minor in school health education, and certification programs for physical education, physical education/special education, and athletic coaching.
The Carthage Athletic Training Education Program has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education since 2003.
The Exercise and Sport Science Department also offers the courses that all Carthage students must take to meet the Physical Education/Fitness Requirement.
