The key to the success of the programs run by the Center for Faith and Spirituality is the leadership of our student staff. Members are paid to work 2 to 4 hours per week to support our programming. Residence Hall Positions
Each resident hall has two Campus Ambassadors from the Center for Faith and Spirituality. Their role is to be a resource person on all things faith and spirituality on campus. If they don’t know the answer, they know who to ask to find out. The Campus Ambassadors also run a weekly Bible study/discussion and offer other opportunities to grow in faith based on their unique gifts and talents. Campus Ambassadors build community on campus.
Program Staff Positions
Service Coordinators coordinate service projects throughout the academic year. Every year features a Red Cross Blood Drive in fall and spring and an end of the year food drive for the Shalom Center. Information on other events can be found all around campus and on The Bridge.
Open Table Coordinator
Open Table is our weekly Wednesday night student-led faith growth event. Every week begins and ends with music and prayer. In the middle we may have a speaker, an activity, Bible study, or “big question” discussions.
Open Table Music Coordinator
The Open Table Music Coordinator’s job is to decide on music for each week of Open Table. This person also recruits other musicians and is in charge of setting rehearsal times.
CUMBYA (Carthage Undergrads Making Big Youth Activities) Coordinator
This person works with CUMBYA to be the main contact with area congregations as they plan events that are either at churches or here at Carthage.
Roman Catholic Coordinators
These students work with our Lay Catholic Coordinator. They help set up and clean up after Mass. They also work with the Catholics at Carthage organization to coordinator and promote service and fellowship events.
Lutheran Student Coordinator
This student works closely with Pastor Kara to build community among Lutheran students on campus through service, worship, and fellowship.
Better Together Coordinators
These students works closely with the Better Together organization to put on events throughout the year and to support interfaith lunch. Better Together Day is always in the spring and is a big event for these students to help coordinate.
Sunday Worship Music Coordinator
There is a Sunday service at 4 p.m. for Protestant/Interdenominational students. The Music Coordinator works with Pastor Kara to pick songs that work with the scripture of the day. They also may provide special music and/or bring in other student musicians to help provide music for each Sunday.
This person helps the Center for Faith and Spirituality have a brand on campus. This person is responsible for creating posters for the campus for Center for Faith and Spirituality events. They may also help us design shirts, notepads, and other items needed for ministry.
We have a traditional Tuesday worship service once a month and an Interfaith service that usually contain music and need accompanist.
