The key to the success of the programs run by the Center for Faith and Spirituality is the leadership of our student staff. Members are paid to work two to four hours per week to support our programming. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact Debbie Clark at dclark@carthage.edu.
Random Acts of Kindness and Service Community Builders
CFS staff partner with other student organizations to bring some random acts of kindness across campus. Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, holidays, special days, or just because — changing the campus one kind act at a time. Team members also coordinate service projects throughout the academic year. These may include Red Cross Blood drives in fall and spring, and a winter end-of-the-year food drive for local food pantries. Information on other events can be found all around campus and on The Bridge and The Harbor.
Roman Catholic Community Builders
These students work with local priests and Pastor Kara to plan Sunday Mass. Students help set up and clean up after mass. They also work with the Catholics at Carthage organization to coordinate and promote service and fellowship events.
Interfaith Lunch/Better Together Community Builders
These students work closely with the Better Together organization to put on events throughout the year and to support interfaith lunch. Better Together Day is always in the spring and is a big event for these students to help coordinate.
S.P.I.R.I.T. Worship Coordinators
In the 2020-2021 academic year SPIRIT Worship will be held at 5:30 pm in Niemann Theatre, Hedberg Library. The music coordinator works with Pastor Kara to choose songs and plan worship. They also may provide special music and/or bring in other student musicians to help provide music as needed.
Print and Social Media Community Builders
These students help the Center for Faith and Spirituality have a brand on campus. They are responsible for creating posters and using social media to promote the Center for Faith and Spirituality events. They may also help us design shirts, notepads, and other items needed for ministry. You can find us on Facebook and Instagram!
Small Group Bible Study Community Builders These student led weekly Bible studies take place on campus, in person and virtually - whether connecting to a movie or book or topic, each one has it’s own focus. Watch for news about the studies on The Bridge and The Harbor.
Sunday Mass Music Director and Accompanist
Sunday mass happens each week at 7:30 p.m. in A. F. Siebert Chapel. Student staff work with a student music director to provide weekly music.
